Conversation Classes In Poole and Bournemouth
All classes will last an hour, with a minimum of 4 and maximum of 8 people. They are designed to help everyone gain confidence in their speaking of the French language in a fun, engaging, interactive environment. (at all levels). The level of the class will be dependent on the previous knowledge and ability of the participants, so I have divided the classes into three categories:
Beginners and Beginners Plus
This class will be designed for those who have never learnt French before and want to be able to get by when in France, or those who have a basic grasp of the language and just need a bit of confidence building. The class will focus on lots of role play situations using everyday scenarios; for example introducing yourself and talking about your family and hobbies, visits to the supermarket or buying a ticket at an attraction in France. I will focus on everyone understanding the questions they are answering and then help on build your answers, so that everyone will be able to progress at their own pace.
French Progress Class
This class is designed for those who have maybe learnt quite a bit of French at school but have forgotten a lot or those who can already have a short conversation in French but would like to extend their conversation more and be able to ask questions. As with the beginners class, the emphasis will be primarily on using everyday scenarios, for instance booking a table at restaurant and ordering from the menu but will maybe progress to asking the waiter about the wine or dishes on the menu or hiring bikes or canoes then enquiring about the route to take. All classes will be fun and very interactive but there may be a bit of vocabulary learning with this class, which will help you to make even quicker progress!
Intermediate
This class is for those who have learnt quite a lot of French at school, maybe to GCSE or O and A level and are rusty, or those who can have a good basic conversation in French and cope reasonably well with everyday scenarios but would like to improve their fluency and feel more confident when conversing in France. The emphasis here will be on extending answers and being able to give opinions about the topic of conversation. There will be some focus on grammar so you will need to have a knowledge of present tense verbs like avoir aller and être, but you maybe need some help on expressing yourself in the past and future. The conversation in the class will focus on more sophisticated scenarios for example talking about your past holiday and what you did – recommending things to do, or maybe discussing problems of global warming and your opinions.
Advanced
Advanced conversation will be on a 1-1 tuition basis and will focus on developing fluency and accuracy in speaking. You will discuss current affairs in France and French culture, listen to French news, answer questions and discuss your ideas. More advanced grammatical structures will be introduced, for example the pluperfect and conditional perfect, the subjunctive and indirect object pronouns.
